The Great Hand Car Regatta, Santa Rosa, Ca

The event is a human-powered, kinetic, rail-bound sculpture race and so much more. We have negotiated with the city of Santa Rosa, Ca., to close down a number of streets and we will be using the Railroad Square Depot parking lot and railroad tracks for our main event. There will be an array of bicycle based contraptions. Exhibitions of Mechanical and Artistic Wonders by all sorts of notorious tinkers from around the Bay Area. (Cyclecide, Kinetic Steam Works, Bryan Tedrick, Todd Barricklow, Neverwas Haul and more)
There will be food booths, amazing craft vendors, all day music, random circus acts, large art installations and sideshow performances as well.

We're looking for a sound system and rider for our bicycle contingent in the Pride parade on Sunday, 6/29. We have a cool playlist of bicycle music, and all we need is the gear to amplify it to the throngs.

I am looking for acts to be in my punk rock cabaret!

I need some high-kicking girls for the can-can and many other stage performers...
Including: singing, dancing, acting, circus acts, burlesque, music, gymastics, fire twirling, fire breathing... and anything and everything else you might want to do...

Once I get enough acts, it will be held at an "underground" punk venue in Oakland

Message me if you're interested, or want to know more... or e-mail me at punkrockcabaret@hotmail.com

Oh, and join the PUNK ROCK CABARET tribe!

duke, my man pie, fellow dpw duder, and all out awesome fella, was hit by a giganto suv driving asswipe. going about 45 mile an hour on s. lamar in austin late friday night.
he stopped. (i know unbelievable) he was drunk, a jerk, and uninsured. last time i checked he was still in jail.

the first three questions duke asked when the er people finally let me in to see him, (hours later all the while i'm thinking, yep he's dead, or oh sweet jesus, ((i don't even like jesus)) please let him be ok.....) were

am i dying?
is the bike ok?
will you stay with me?

to which i replied,

no.
no.
yes.

we just now got to take him home.

injuried.... oh yeah
one broken arm..... 4 screws one plate (he's so metal)
one broken leg..... big boot thingie in need of a few cocks drawn on it. 10-12 weeks.
head trauma out the wazoo.
tons of road rash, cuts that needed stitches but didn't get them, and bruises on top of bruises. and he bit his tongue so it swelled so much that he talked like a retard for almost three days.
he doesn't remember any of it, or a lot of the time we spent at the hospital. he's in A LOT of pain.
but.....
back to being a sarcastic ass hat, making demands, and in dire need of a blow job.

he's fucked, but not as fucked as he could be, or as bad off as he was a couple days ago.

the bike..... top tube broken in half, tires taco'd in two different directions, seat ripped and bent up, crank and crank arms bent, handle bars bent. fucked and fucked.

needless to say, we're fucked too.
but happy.

Just a friendly reminder to all who are planning on coming in for our stuporbowl party to bring a blanket or a sleeping bag and a towel if you plan on couch surfing or showering while you are here. It looks like there will be quite a few out of towners here, so bringing your own supplies will help us out alot!
Thanks, and see you next weekend!

so i made it home last night and was taking off my clothes when i noticed that i was missing some skin off of my leg, which canceled the "damn, i didn't even bleed at this show" dream i was living in. if you happen to find my skin i would like it back. it's about a quarter inch squared. thanks.

PEDAL MONSTER july 21st-23rd

BY MAYORAL PROCLAMATION -- no, really, we're not lying, the paperwork's done and Gavin Newsom said so -- THE WEEKEND OF JULY 22-23 HAS BEEN DECLARED "CYCLECIDE WEEKEND" IN SAN FRANCISCO!!!

Honk honk!

San Francisco's Heavy Pedal CYCLECIDE BIKE RODEO presents:
PEDAL MONSTER!
July 21nd - Poker Run, bar TBA
July 22, 2-10pm; July 23, 2-8pm - Mission Village Market, 18th and Alabama Streets, San Francisco.
Poker run participation $5, 21 and over. Carnival is all ages; $7-10 sliding scale. RIDER ASSUMES ALL RISK.

San Francisco's CYCLECIDE BIKE RODEO is, as always, 2 DUM 2 DIE -- and ready to get hitched at City Hall, regardless of handlebar shininess or headtube length. In the wake of their countless tours across the country, insane and successful hometown shows, myriad television appearances, documentary films, festival headlinings, international fashion magazine modeling spreads (no really), and cultural blah blah and interactivity thus and so on and the "for the Kids" every which way, the Honorable Gavin Newsom and the City of San Francisco do hereby proclaim July 22-23 to be CYCLECIDE WEEKEND.

And in return, Cyclecide is proving its eternal love to the City and to the culture of the bike with a freakish, pedal-and-contraption-centric carnival of stupid and epic proportions. Mutant Bike Clubs from all of the U.S.A. will descend upon San Francisco -- from as far away as Seattle, Reno, and New York -- to carouse and joust and make out with local hotties. The Cyclecide Bike Rodeo will run around like a chicken with its head geeked off. There will be bands, shows, games, and general cacophony, the likes of which San Francycle has rarely seen. Accept no imitations -- CYCLECIDE REMAINS THE WORLD'S ONLY BIKE RODEO AND PEDAL-POWERED CARNIVAL MIDWAY! Even the mayor agrees.

Fri/21:
POKER RUN. Starts at darkish. Bar TBA on cyclecide.com. Wherein mutant bicycling fans and feisty cyclists are all invited to throw in $5 to participate in a multi-bar POKER GAME involving DRINKING and BICYCLING. There will be prizes and very probably some pie-fighting and light pavement-wrestling

Sat/22-Sun/23:
PEDAL MONSTER Festival takes over the Mission Village Market. (P.S. the market is slated for destruction soon after that. Bye-bye, lovely Mission weekends searching the flea market for thrifty treasures. Sniff.)

Featuring:
-Cyclecide Rides & Sideshow, with Skits, Mutant Bikes, Rodeo Clowns, and punk rock mariachi band Los Banos

-An Only In San Francisco Circus Midway, with Wrong-Way Bike Games, Ornery Clowns Doing Incredibly Stupid Things, and Hot Utra Gypsy Bellydancers Selling Raffle Tickets for Mutant Bikes and Other Prizes.

-Interclub Tallbike Jousting, as seen on TV and in the 2003 film-festival hit documentary *Too Dumb To Die* -- contestants include Neanderthals from out-of-town bike tribes, Doyle the 2005 World Tallbike Jousting Champion, and Gorgar the Vain and Belligerent Urine-Eating Monster

-Pervitadora Records' Glen Meadmore -- the Hot, Horny, and Born-Again Singing Cowboy

-The Life-Size Mousetrap -- the Rube Goldberg-inspired creation based on the children's board game but instead of a net at the end there's a 2-ton safe that smashes things. With three-a-day performances by sexy mice, cranky blue-collar clowns, and the one-woman-band Esmerelda Strange

The Disgusting Spectacle -- a Giant Head Sculpture that Picks its Own Nose with an Equally Giant Pointy-Fingered Hand, Powered by a Human-Sized Hamster Wheel

BMX Ramp Competition and Flatland Expo Presented by First Rule

Kielbasa, the Accordion-Playing Lunch Lady

The Slow Poisoner

The Outlaw Country of Hellbound Glory

Flower Frankenstein / BikiniKat

DJs Toph One, jef leopard, Renessa, & Big Daddy

Emceed by the Reverend David Apocalypse

More acts TBA.
More details at: www.cyclecide.com

Available for interview: Cyclecide's "fearless bleeder" Jarico Reesce and the Life-Size Mousetrap's creator Mark Perez

KINETIC SCULPTURE set atop a 6,500-square-foot, 2,000-lb GAME BOARD -- This clever, giant Rube Goldberg style contraption has been lifted from the memories of our collective childhood… strangely fabricated from wood and steel, then painted in saturated classic colors reminiscent of a familiar OUT-OF- CONTROL BOARD GAME! Complete with a STAGE, original MUSICAL SCORE, can-can DANCERS, acrobatic HIJINKS, and other SPECTACULARLY SCRIPTED scenes dedicated to the pursuit of spectacle-laden absurdity! This show is about the PLAY of the game -- and the game is
VAUDEVILLIAN with a drink of BURLESQUE! Throw in a little CARNIVAL atmosphere, where lucky contestants PICK EACH OTHER'S POCKETS, lift a 350-lb CAST-IRON BATHTUB 12 feet into the air, turn impossibly huge GEARS, load SPRINGS, and light a 13' TALL FLAME-THROWING LAMP POST all in a
SUPREME effort to CRUSH a TRINKET of MEANING (say, a BIRTHDAY CAKE or a thought provoking EFFIGY) under a FALLING 2 TON BANK SAFE!

Do you think women should be able to defend themselves?

Do you think women living alone in a nice neighborhood like Hunter's Point ought to be able to defend themselves?

I do, I am a flaming liberal schoolteacher and a gun owner. I can't afford to live in some high security loft, but live in HP....

Please help us defeat Prop H, which will mean that only people like Gavin Newsom will be able to own a gun.

Here's the tribe:

we could all learn a thing or two from this dude......

uesday, January 11, 2005 (SF Chronicle)
Escaped robber returns to annals of weird crime/Cops say 'Roofman'
lived large in store
Demian Bulwa, Charles Burress, Chronicle Staff Writer

The slick-as-fry-oil robber known as "Roofman," a former Army
reservist in
Concord who drilled and dropped into fast-food joints from the Bay Area
to
Massachusetts, is back behind bars with another whopper of a saga.
His downfall this time? A woman.
By day, Jeffrey Manchester's spent his six months on the lam as a
generous
churchgoing volunteer known as John, who gave toys to kids and told his
new girlfriend and church congregation that he had a secret government
job, police said.
At night, he was a fugitive hiding and playing in a Toys "R" Us,
making
his lair in a cubbyhole in the bicycle display, racing remote-control
cars
on the roof after hours and riding bikes around the store for exercise,
said Sgt. Katherine Scheimreif of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg, N.C.,
police.
He even monkeyed with the employees' work schedules, and his diet
included
stolen baby food, she said.
The crafty and polite Manchester, 33, was serving a 45-year sentence
in
June when he hid under a delivery truck and became the first person
ever
to escape from the Brown Creek Correctional Institution in Polkton,
N.C.
Suspected of at least 40 robberies at McDonald's and other
businesses in
the Bay Area and across the country before being sent to prison in
2000,
he was caught again last week in Charlotte, where police are still
piecing
together the brazen new persona he created.
When the Toys "R" Us where he was holed up became crowded during the
holiday shopping season, he fashioned a secret passageway into an
adjoining Circuit City that had been abandoned, Scheimreif said. In a
cubicle he built of sheetrock under a stairwell, he painted the walls,
put
up posters and action figures, mounted a toy basketball hoop and
watched
Spiderman and other movies on a DVD player, she said.
Meanwhile, he planned a takeover robbery of the Toys "R" Us, even
installing a baby video monitor in his cubicle to see what was
happening
in the store. Police believe he got a gun by robbing a pawn shop, but
when
he attempted the Toys "R" Us robbery on Dec. 26, authorities said, two
employees slipped out, forcing him to flee through his secret door and
allowing police to find his hideaway and the clues that led to their
identifying him.
They didn't find him, but two members of Crossroads Presbyterian
Church
recognized police photos of the man who had joined their church in
October. Police also linked him to the arson of a Charlotte dentist's
office where he had gone to have his teeth fixed and which he is
believed
to have torched last Tuesday in an effort to destroy his records,
Scheimreif said.
When police told his girlfriend in Charlotte, Leigh Wainscott, who
he
really was, it was a "huge shock," she said in a phone interview on
Monday
night.
"I was numb and in shock. I was hysterical," she said. She refused
to
believe them until they showed her evidence on the Internet, she said.
"He was very well-spoken, well-dressed, clean, generous," she said
of the
man she had been dating since mid-November. He volunteered for the
church's outreach program for needy families, giving their kids toys,
she
said.
Those toys apparently came from Toys "R" Us, Scheimreif said.
"My pastor and my congregation all fell in love with him
immediately,"
Wainscott said.
He bought her diamond earrings and expensive scarves; he gave gifts
to her
three children. They spent the holidays together, decorated her
Christmas
tree and went to movies.
But after learning his real identity, Wainscott agreed to cooperate
with
police and arranged for Manchester to come to her home on Jan. 5 for
her
40th birthday. Instead of finding her and her children, he was nabbed
by
waiting police.
His big mistake was "going back for the girl one last time,"
Scheimreif
said.
After his arrest, police allowed him to call Wainscott.
"He was very sad and humbled and felt terrible that he had to
deceive us,
" Wainscott said. "He encouraged me and told me to be strong and to do
the
things we talked about doing. He wasn't upset."
"I don't hate him," she said. "I'm disappointed and confused. I
don't know
whether to smack him or hug him."
Manchester also got to talk to his mother after the arrest.
Explaining his capture, he told her, "Mom, I kind of lost focus,"
she
recalled Monday. The mother, who asked not to be identified, lives in
the
Sacramento area, where Manchester's twin 13-year-old boys and 11-year
daughter also live with their mother.
"He doesn't seem super-embarrassed about the notoriety," his mother
said.
"I know I would be."
"As his mother, I can't imagine," she said. "This is something you
would
see in the movies."
Indeed, some people said the escapade reminded them of the Natalie
Portman
film "Where the Heart Is," about a pregnant teenager who moves into a
Wal-Mart, Scheimreif said.
As Manchester sits in Mecklenburg County Jail, police are
contemplating
what new charges to lodge against the man they describe as meticulous,
intelligent, athletic and so polite that he was known to give captives
a
jacket before ushering them into a walk-in freezer.
"You hate to compliment the guy, because he's a dirtbag, but we can
learn
a lot from him," Scheimreif said.
"It won't surprise me if he escapes again," she added. "He's that
crafty"

Dear Cyclecide crew.
I am new to the world of mutant bikes and have a highbike (and a ghetto chopper in the works.) I wish to have a chance to meet others like me in the bay area, as I cannot seem to find anyone on the map here who is cutting up innocent bikes. Please help! I even started a Sacto mutant bike tribe to try and scare up my like minded fellows...help!

[yes, this post is real]
The Cycleciders have once again proven that they are 2 dum 2 die. This morning they cheated death in Lincoln, Nebraska when their bus was rear-ended by a semi truck. According to my brother Moses, the trailer smashed through the engine, injuring both the trailer and the bus, but no people. They found a friendly junkyard and are resting today and thinking about what to do next.
